I had used sticky traps near the base of my expensive plants, with moderate sucess.

A dilute solution of this spryed gently on the soil per directions over several weeks took care of the problem that had plagued my room and plants all winter. Neem on the walls helped murder a flying colony and some living along the walls. I had a very bad infestation!!!!

One bottle is intense and will last along time. Use a good one gallon sprayer. The smell is a bit strong, fans help, suggest you measure carefully. It works.

To give a good background of my situation first: I had a very bad gnat infestation. I have 4 large size pots near each other at one side of the house and at the other 2 more large size pots. I’m growing raspberries, blackberries, 2 kinds of tomatoes and bell peppers. The gnats were not only all over the plant soil but it got so bad they were seen all over my house on all 3 floors, far away from the plants. I first tried the gognats direction on the bottle but it didn’t seem to have much effect so I increased the potency based on other people’s reviews on this site. That did seem to significantly put a dent in the gnat population but after doing 2 treatments my tomatoes look to be in worse shape. They are over 5 ft tall so I would say about 5-10% of the leafs look bad. It doesn’t look significant enough to kill the plant but be careful. If you increase the amount of gognats in a watering give it time for the plant to adjust before you try another treatment. I only waited 3 days. Currently my gnat problem isn’t fully gone after the gognat treatments but it is allot more manageable. You can’t expect any insecticide to kill all bugs as some aren’t on the plant when its being treated. I also got several safebrand sticky stakes. The combo of gognats reducing the larvae amounts and the sticky stakes to eliminate the adult gnats, my situation is finally back to normal.

… after a couple of weeks of mixing this stuff in the water that went to my plants, the gnats were virtually gone. It’s got cedar oil it and I rather like the smell of cedar, but flies hate it. They used to make chests out of cedar to keep bugs out, so this idea has been around for a while… somebody just decided to bottle it up! I highly recommend if you have a gnat problem.

I’d read the other reviews but found it hard to be hopeful. I have lots of plants in my house and this situation just kept getting worse over about six months and a lot of chemical treatments. The worse was that the gnats loved my computer screen, and would hang out here while I typed. Bad enough that they killed 2 plants, they also messed up my screen when I killed them.

Anyway, I had tried a ton of products, some incredibly toxic, and nothing worked. But this stuff did. The directions say two treatments the first week, but the first one did it. It’s been two weeks since then, and I haven’t seen one of those things. And believe me, they were everywhere, especially on this screen. The rest of my plants may survive.

    Thank you GoGnats!
